How to Cancel Adobe Creative Cloud Without Being Charged Again

Adobe makes cancelling harder than it should be — and charges an early termination fee if you do it at the wrong time. Here is exactly what to do to cancel cleanly and avoid unexpected charges.

⚠ Read this before you cancel
If you are on an annual plan billed monthly, Adobe charges a 50% early termination fee on your remaining months. Check your plan type before cancelling — it changes what you should do.

Step 1 — Check what plan you are on

Before cancelling, find out your plan type. Log in to account.adobe.com → Plans. You will see one of:

Annual plan, billed monthly
HIGH — early termination fee of 50% of remaining months applies
Annual plan, prepaid (paid upfront)
No termination fee, but no refund either
Monthly plan (no annual commitment)
No fee — cancel any time

How to cancel Adobe Creative Cloud

01Go to account.adobe.com and sign in
02Click Plans in the left sidebar
03Click Manage Plan next to your Creative Cloud subscription
04Click Cancel Plan
05Adobe will show you retention offers — you can decline them all
06Select a cancellation reason and click Continue
07Review the confirmation and click Cancel Plan to confirm

You will receive a confirmation email. Keep this — it is your proof of cancellation if Adobe continues to charge you.

How to avoid the early termination fee

If you are on an annual plan billed monthly, you have a few options:

Cancel within 14 days of signing up or renewing
Adobe offers a full refund and no termination fee within the first 14 days. This is the cleanest exit.
Wait until your annual period ends
If your annual commitment is almost up, waiting a few weeks avoids the fee entirely. Check your renewal date in account.adobe.com.
Contact Adobe support and ask for a waiver
Some users report success citing financial hardship or technical issues. There is no guarantee, but it is worth trying before paying the fee.
Switch to a monthly plan first
Adobe sometimes allows you to switch to a month-to-month plan at a higher price, then cancel the following month. Check if this option appears in your plan settings.

What happens to your files when you cancel

Before you cancel, download everything stored in Adobe Creative Cloud storage.

Files on your computer — unaffected, stay on your machine
Files in Adobe Creative Cloud storage — become read-only for 90 days, then permanently deleted
Adobe Fonts — any fonts used in documents will become inactive without a subscription
Lightroom photos — download them before cancelling if stored in Lightroom cloud
